  3. 2013My old blog is gone so I don’t have the previous ones, but at the end of the year I like to take a look back at the work I did.  My own critique of me…
In 2012 life/work events really led to me taking most of the year off from shooting. So 2013 felt like a year of getting back into the groove of things and finding out where I want to go now.  I am still not shooting at the volume I used to in the past, I am averaging a couple shoots a month as opposed to something every week, but I have been able to put some more planning and work into a few of the shoots this year which has always been the goal.  I don’t really see that changing, I want to have more time for each shoot if anything not less.
I am still being too lazy with light.  Moving my studio to my home has it’s perks and challenges when it comes to light and in general I don’t seem to be confronting the challenges. In a little white room you are essentially shooting within a softbox and it is so easy just to light the whole thing up with a couple lights.  I would like to get back to trying to better control the light in the studio and play with more modifiers etc…
Really started to dabble with some wire constructions on people this year.  But to continue what I want to do with it I am going to need to find a realistic way to do some more elaborate constructions before hand.  I would like to do more things like the spine shoot, but I need to use a mannequin to make it more fitted and see better what more needs done before shoot day.  I have talked about making life-casts of models to construct things on and I may still go that route…
Was able to meet some new faces this year and I continue to be so lucky to have people willing to be a part of the silly things in my head.  Looking forward to 2014.
